Event Description

Vara Lakshmi Vratam is a festival celebrated by married women, primarily in South India, to seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity, health, and family well- being. Observed on a Friday before the full moon (Purnima) in the month of Shravana (JulyAugust), the vratam involves fasting, prayers, and special puja rituals. Women decorate a kalasha (sacred pot) symbolizing the goddess and offer traditional sweets, flowers, and fruits. It is believed that observing this vratam brings the blessings of Ashtalakshmi— the eight forms of wealth and prosperity.
